Clarity enhanced diamonds are a short cut that should be avoided. Diamond jewelry contains clarity enhanced diamonds, without a GIA cert, as the Gemological Institute of America does not grade clarity enhanced diamonds. Some jewelers use a laser to dissolve black carbon deposits present in flawed diamonds, leaving a white track on them, that a trained jeweler could easily spot with a 10x loupe.
