Diamond Earrings

So, I think I am in the market for some diamond earrings.  Anyone have any advice.

I'd like to get to something timeless, I know my budget.  How high end should someone go on diamond earrings... or are they usually lower in quality than say an engagement ring?

If you're talking about diamond studs (two full cut "mathching" diamonds) couple of things to keep in mind....
White, well cut diamonds will be noticed over larger dull stones. rarely will anyone be closeenough to the wearers ear to notice the clarity of the stone. if your stones are two "big" they'll tend to turn downward and render the light performance pointless.
save money by keeping the carat weight of your diamonds under the huge price jumping points. for example, if you are looking for 2 cararat total weight lloking studs (1 carat in each ear), look for .75-.99 cts diamonds. the face up size between these and stones at or slightly above 1ct is negligable but there's a huge price difference. you'll save alot of money that you can put into quality or in your wallet.

Thanks, this is great advice.  I think I have diamond fever and may buy some soon.

I have checked out your advice on buying just under 1.0 ct and you're right the price is a lot cheaper.  So I plan to do as you recommended and but just under 1.0ct but go with higher quality.
