Sapphire, the Birthstone for the month of September and the form of mineral corundum, is related to the gemstone ruby. Sapphires are usually blue in color and range from the prettiest deep indigo to almost black. The difference is all other colors of corundum species except ruby which is red in color are called sapphires. Sapphires were believed to help protect the body from snakes and lust! It is also said that Sapphires help clear confusion and help soften thoughts of hate and anger making for a person more peaceful and calm. When the Sapphire jewelry is enhanced with diamonds or other deep toned gems, it becomes one of the most wonderful and prettiest gemstones.
